- Geeked out all over the shoes of Stan Lee, Paul Levitz, Mark Waid, Scott Kurtz, Kevin Church, David Malki, Charlaine Harris, and Joe R. Lansdale. They were all cool about it.
- Someone got stabbed scratched in a scuffle over seats at one of the panels. In what is perhaps a related note, I decided I’m too old to wait four hours in line, even for close friends or Joss Whedon. As I do every time I go to Comic-Con, I start out with the best of intentions. I create a schedule with multiple options to see panels with a wide variety of entertainment created by people who work hard to get every tiny little geeky reference right. And then, every year, I spend all my spare time neck-deep in longboxes, searching for back issues or half-off trade paperbacks. Sorry, guys.
- The “Fang Boys and Fang Girls” panel was great. The other authors were all very kind, especially the aforementioned Ms. Harris, who was truly sweet and generous to everyone. And you couldn’t ask for a better audience.
- Was unsuccessful in my attempt to cyber-stalk Chris Sims of ComicsAlliance and the ISB. Maybe next year.
- But we’ll always have the memories:
